Variable retention capacity for maintenance and commercial repair for cars and light trucks

Used in garages, industrial condos and any mechanical workshop. The oil interceptor comes with a wall control panel incorporating two independent visual alarms that indicate the appropriate moment to drain the used oils. The retention capacity for oils within the unit is variable dependent on the required model.

Interceptor is entirely made of robust steel and coated with very resistant enamel antirust paint, integrated flow rate control and a reinforced non-skid striated cover. Withstands cars and light trucks.

Note: Sand interceptor is required (GR-520 series) or option SA (4.7.6).

SPECIFICATION AND INSTALLATION

Our electronic system includes a certified wall-mounted unit with control of the pre-determined retention oils (not high level). This electrical wall-mounted unit requires a power supply of 115 volts, which is connected by a wire tech on the inside of the interceptor to a waterproof junction box, to which are attached three electrodes, powered by a low voltage supply of 2 volts. After having installed the interceptor in the ground, fill it with water until it reaches the inlet connection and afterwards plug the power cord to an electrical inlet connection with a power supply of 115 volts – 15 AMP. Once the electrodes come in contact with water, the green light on the wall-mounted unit will indicate that the system is functional.

The oils used accumulate inside the interceptor by floating on the surface of the water. In result of being lighter, they are withheld on the inside by the chimney which descends towards the bottom at the exit, letting only the water escape. The interceptor will reach its full retention capacity once the oils retained inside have thickened and made their way to the bottom (see H’ on drawing). When the probes are immerged in the oil, two independent red lights will turn on in order to notify the user that the interceptor must be emptied. The interceptor can be emptied by using the pipe to suction the substance out by opening the trap situated on the big cover or by simply using the pump if allowed. During this operation, you must make sure no water runs down the drainage system. After emptying the layer of oil, add water into the interceptor from the drainage system. Once the water reaches the electrodes, the red lights will turn off and a green light will appear on the control panel of the wall-mounted unit.

Our electronic oil interceptor does not include a shutoff valve at its output to prevent any crippling in the buildings sewage-drainage system; our unit is equipped with a safe storage capacity (see “J” on our drawing) which leaves ample time for maintenance and is a considerable advantage for the user.

Note: It is important to have the whole drainage system of your garage as well as your interceptor cleaned at least once a year.

CAPACITY

The required capacity in GPM is determined by the number of repair units in the garage; meaning the number of vehicle that can be repaired at the same time in the garage.

UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION METHOD

All floor drains must pour into a sand interceptor and continue in the oil interceptor. The oil interceptor must be ventilated by two 2” pipes running parallel outside the building in the direction of the rooftop; one of the two pipes must exceed the other by approximately 12”. Inside the building, the pipe for the blowhole can be placed on the 2”, but must absolutely be placed on the 3” on the exterior.

An interceptor is not designed to receive used oil from mechanical workshops where oil is changed. It was developed to deal with effluents with the following characteristics: intermittent or variable flow, water/oil mixture, non-soluble/non-emulsifying.

The units must be placed on a base of compacted crushed stone or sand until they are under the concrete floor, and then be cemented to that floor. Prior to the start of operations in the workshop, the interceptor must be filled with clean water to the inlet connection after every emptying or cleaning of the unit. The interceptor must be cleaned once a year or more if needed. The sand sensor must be drained once the volume approaches the inlet connexions before it pours into the interceptor.
